The Hebden School of Dancing

As a parent or guardian of a child or young person either interested in dance or already engaged within dance classes we understand your need to feel safe in the knowledge that they are in safe hands and that we are the right people to guide them through their dance education and set them on the correct career path.​

We are one of few schools that start children dancing from the age of 2. The Pre-School dance curriculum develops basic movement skills, musical awareness, expression and creativity. Students then progress through our class structure as they develop and grow. Whilst most classes are structured by age range we always take ability into consideration.

When students have reached an acceptable level of technique and confidence they are offered the chance to participate in dance exams and medal tests. The Graded Examinations in Dance syllabus provides a broad practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills. It incorporates ballet, free movement and character and with the new Pre-Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance it is appropriate for students from the age of five years.​ Exams and medals offered by the IDTA are suitable for children participating in dance at a social and technical level. Medal tests are available in all non-classical fields such as acrobatics, street dance, modern theatre and tap.
